Interview with a Lovely Naturalista – Ms. Danni C

Ms. Danni C – Shrinkxkin

!!!!!!Welcome IslandKynkers!!!!!

Let us welcome Gorgeous Ms. Danni C and us learn from our beautiful jewel about not only her natural tresses but her awesome hair journey.

Enjoy My Dears!

Tell us a little bit of yourself, name, where you are from, your hobbies.

A: Hi! My name is Danni and I reside in Washington DC. I enjoy painting, photography, AfroBrazilian drumming, and of course... BLOGGING! 🙂

What made you return and remain Natural?

A: This is my 4th big chop (as of June 1st 2016) after 4 months of transitioning from texturizing my hair. I returned back to natural because I realized how much i truly loved my hair and I learned to appreciate my 4C hair.

Gorgeous in Every Way

Describe your Hair Care Maintenance for your 4C tresses.

A: My hair care maintenance is pretty simple and minimalist. I co-wash with a diluted mixture of Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle with Baking Soda, then I do a Clay Rinse, then I moisturize with Kinky Curly Knot Today and seal with Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I currently do this twice a week and usually style my hair in a wash an go. However, every once in a while I would switch it up to try as many hairstyles as possible. This is has been the best regimen for my fine 4B/4C Low Porosity Hair.

Can you name some of the challenges you have faced with your own hair?

So far, I have not had any issues. I think after 4 big chops, I should have something right huh? Hahaha. I think that by my moisture levels being up, it allows for me to have minimal issues.

Why do you truly love your Natural Hair?

I love my natural hair because it is versatile and it is apart of who I am.

Have you ever dealt with a hair tragedy, how were you able to recover?

I have dealt with a few hahaha. I have dealt with hair breakage that came out of nowhere, bad texturizing techniques, the list goes on! What helped me recover is really listening to my hair, staying natural, and just going with the flow.

How can girls learn to properly care for their own unique 4C tresses?

I will say to make sure that you learn your hair’s porosity and strand thickness. This can easily help you with what products will work for your hair and how much you can manipulate your hair without risking breakage. This really helped me out with my hair journey and saved me a lot of money on buying products.
