Beautiful and a very sweet young lady, please welcome Darling Tekia, 

Here is her Natural Hair Story, do enjoy Loves:

1) Please introduce your amazing self.

A: Hi Naturalistas! I am the 2nd half of the Fashion Twinz84.  We are 30 years old, and we have been natural for one year and five months, and we are very excited to continue this journey! 

2) Did you Transition, Big Chop, Both, or Natural from Birth?

A: We both big chopped. I actually did 2 chops! My first chop was in August 2013, and then I chopped again in November 2013.  My decision to return to naturally was by accident! I did not like the thinning that I was experiencing with my hair! Ever since I can remember; my hair has always been somewhat thick and bouncy, and I started to feel very self-conscious about my hair…so I decided to stop relaxing it to “hopefully” gain some luster and thickness back to my hair.  Sad to say; that DID NOT WORK! I didn’t know at the time that I was constantly damaging my hair by utilizing so much heat! I was the flat iron queen! LOL…so even without relaxing, I still had so much damage….then during a random conversation one day, my sister and I decided to go on a healthy hair journey together, and that was the beginning of bliss for my hair! 😀

3) How long have you been natural?

A: We have been natural for one year and five months.

4) How hard or easy was your first year of being natural?

A: The first year was very challenging because I was so used to getting many compliments on my relaxed hair.  My Go-To hairstyle was my “wrap”.  I had that darn wrap down to a science! Haha… but when I decided to return back to natural, all of those compliments stopped and the “stares” and “side eyes” began! LOL… It was devastating!  I had my twin sister remind me on a daily basis that we were doing something that was healthier for our hair, and that we were going to embrace the hair that grew from our own heads! She was my constant encourager, and needless to say, those encouraging words really helped to boost my self-esteem…but it helped more that we were embarking on this journey together!

5) Your 3 favorite products and why?

A: My Three favorite products are:

• Coconut Oil – because this leaves my hair very soft! It helps to melt the tangles away, and it helps to seal the moisture into my hair.
• Raw Shea Butter – I love this product because I use it for EVERYTHING! It works wonders in helping to seal the moisture into my hair, and it’s perfect for moisturizing my skin as well
• Tresemme’ Naturals – I love this product when I co-wash my hair! This helps to melt the tangles away, as well as it gives me maximum moisture—oh yeah! 😀

6) What do you love about your unique tresses?

A: I absolutely LOVE the fact that my hair is so versatile! I’ve always been the type of girl to get bored with the same style for too long of a time!  I don’t even have a least favorite task when dealing with my natural hair! Most naturals don’t like wash day, but I LOVE wash day! LOL…. Wash day gives me a chance to really massage my scalp! I also use the deep conditioning time to relax my mind, and do some soul searching— “ You can tell that I don’t have kids yet! Ha”

7) How do you inspire other girls to return naturally?

A: My sister and I have launched our YouTube Channel http://www.youtube.com/c/fashiontwinz84 to encourage other women/girls to return to their natural hair! We really wanted to be an outlet for other women/girls, because we have experienced firsthand what it’s like to go against the norms of society.  We don’t want anyone to embark on this journey alone! We also have a Facebook page that is linked to our natural hair YouTube channel. It’s called FashionTwinz84.   So far in my journey; my favorite hairstyle has been my Stretched Twist-Out, but here are more of my favs!
