Hair Products Review – Ingredients to Avoid

Buenas Tardes Senoritas,

When you read the ingredients in hair products, are you not amazed at how much one recipient contains? I always am, a 20 oz bottle has about 25 or more ingredients, some with names I can hardly pronounce or even know what they are or what they do.

On my natural hair journey, have done a lot of researching on what can be used to maintain my hair healthy, but also found that certain ingredients do not work at all with my hair texture, 4C and sometimes can mess it up which is a pain to deal with.

The following ingredients are ones that I try to avoid using, especially long term, because they can cause damage to our tresses:

  • Aminomethyl Proponal
  • Ammonium Laureth Sulfate
  • Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate
  • Ammonium Xylene Sulfonate
  • Coal Tar
  • Diethanolamine (DEA)
  • Diazolidinyl Urea
  • Fragrance
  • Formaldehyde
  • Imidazolidinyl Urea
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Lanolin
  • Lead
  • Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben and Ethylparaben.
  • Mineral Oil
  • Momoethnanolamine (MEA)
  • Paraffin
  • Petroleum
  • Propylene Glycol
  • PVP/VA Copolymer
  • Selenium Sulfide
  • Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate (SLS)
  • Sulfur
  • Synthetic Colors
  • Synthetic Fragrances
  • Triethanolamine (TEA)

For further information about these ingredients and to see why they should be avoided, check out the following links below:

The above links educate us why these ingredients can cause harm to our hair and to our overall health, so please check them out.

There is a lot of hair products out there now more than ever, many companies have started to use more natural ingredients in their products, so search for what works for your hair texture & when you find what works with your tresses, stick with it.

Muchas Gracias Srtas. for reading, enjoy the evening and Happy Healthy Hair Days to you all.
